Winter Park, Fla. --- The Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture gardens presents the final of three classical music concerts on March 11 at 5 pm. Held in the elegant Salon of the Polasek residence, concertgoers will experience an atmosphere of acoustic perfection and social sophistication, highlighted by performances by internationally acclaimed soloists Ayako Yonetani (violin and viola), Nora Lee Garcia (flute) and Lee Eubank (bass).
The performance will include the very popular La primavera (Spring) from Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons; Syrinx (Flûte de Pan) for solo flute by Claude Debussy; Sonata No. 1 in G minor by J. S. Bach; and Trio for Flute, Viola and Bass by Czech composer Ervin Schulhoff.
Patrons may purchase individual tickets for $50 by calling 407.647.6294. The intimate nature of the venue means very limited seating, with a total audience of less than 50 persons per concert.
Featured soloist Ayako Yonetani received her Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral Degrees from the Julliard School under the tutelage of Dorothy DeLay, Hyo Kang and Masao Kawasaki. Professor of Violin/Viola at the University of Central Florida, Yonetani performs with Japan’s Koi Sinfonietta Tokyo.
Nora Lee Garcia holds degrees from the University of Miami (DMA), Brooklyn College (MA) and the Conservatory of Puerto Rico (BM), studying under Michel Debost, Bernard Goldberg, Mary Karen Clardy, Carol Wincenc, Peter Kern, Bonita Boyd and James Galway. Associate Professor of Flute at the University of Central Florida, Garcia is also on the summer faculty at the Moulin'Ande in France and at Casa Maria in Santa Barbara, California. She performs with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Festival and is principal flute of the Florida Chamber Orchestra and Disney Orchestra.
Lee Eubank was educated at Oberlin College (BM) and Indiana University (MM and PhD). Professor at the University of Central Florida (retired) Eubank is currently a visiting instructor at Rollins College. He performs with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the Winter Park Bach Festival Orchestra.
The Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture gardens, retirement home of 2004 Florida Artists Hall of Fame recipient Albin Polasek, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
