The Polasek Museum is com­mit­ted to being a good stew­ard of the land and to fos­ter­ing a greater under­stand­ing and appre­ci­a­tion of our envi­ron­ment. Our short-term goal is to inven­tory the envi­ron­men­tal resources and review our man­age­ment practices.

The long-term goal includes con­tin­ued man­age­ment of inva­sive plant species, restrained use of fer­til­iz­ers and pes­ti­cides, gar­den­ing com­pat­i­bly with wildlife espe­cially the locally estab­lished Amer­i­can Wood Duck pop­u­la­tion, and com­post­ing gar­den waste. (Photo: Ran­dall Smith)
