OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

An academic symposium will accompany the traveling exhibition, “Zelda By Herself: The Art of Zelda Fitzgerald”, a collection of 54 framed watercolors by Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald. The exhibit is organized by International Arts and Artists in Washington, DC.

F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald spent their first few years of marriage as rich and privileged socialites in New York and Europe. However, beneath the exuberant and carefree exterior, Zelda and Scott were both troubled and complex. Scott’s alcoholism and Zelda's mental breakdowns attracted wide publicity during their brief lives – he died at the age of 44, she was 47. Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald: Icons of an Era will explore their private lives and public persona.

Led by Ruth Prigozy, Executive Director, and Jackson Bryer, President of the Fitzgerald Society, the leading Fitzgerald scholars of the United States will come together, combining their passion for literature and history with years of experience teaching and writing about the Fitzgerald’s. Please refer to the schedule posted in the following pages for details of the times and locations of the many lectures, presentations and social activities accompanying the symposium.
